A case has been filed against the city's Ad-Din Hospital authorities over the alleged "deaths by negligence" of six newborns.
Habibur Rahman, relative of a deceased child filed the case being the plaintiff, said Sheikh Jahidul Islam, deputy commissioner at Ramna Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Meanwhile, the bodies of the six infants were handed over to their respective families without postmortem. The decision was taken responding to the written applications of the families concerned.
Earlier in the day, the six newborns died at the post-delivery ward of the hospital. The relatives alleged that the deaths were caused by mismanagement and the air conditioning system being turned off at the ward.
