Prime Minister Tarique Rahman joined the main Eid-ul-Azha congregation at the National Eidgah ground adjacent to the High Court in the capital on Thursday morning.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin also attended the main Eid prayers, which began at 7:30am.
Cabinet members, state ministers, lawmakers, judges of the Appellate and High Court divisions, diplomats from different Muslim countries, political leaders, senior government officials and Muslims from various walks of life joined the congregation.
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Khatib Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek led the prayers. He later delivered the khutbah after the two rakats of wajib Eid prayers.
The Dhaka South City Corporation arranged the congregation at the National Eidgah ground with separate facilities for women and VIPs.
Authorities also ensured separate entry points, ablution facilities and prayer arrangements for women. Medical teams and adequate ablution facilities remained available for worshippers.
Officials said the Eidgah accommodated around 35,000 worshippers, including nearly 3,500 women.
