A BNP activist was killed during the clashes between the party members and police in the capital's Naya Paltan area on Saturday.
Shamim Mollah, a ward level Jubo Dal leader, died while undergoing treatment at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital, said the party's general secretary (Acting) Shafiqul Islam Milton.
He said Shamim died after sustaining injuries during the clashes between police and BNP leaders and activists on Saturday afternoon. He was then taken to the hospital in the afternoon where he succumbed to his injuries.
Md Rezaul Haidar, director of the hospital and deputy inspector general of police, said, "There is no injury mark on his body. It is thought he died from the cardiac arrest."
