BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has alleged that fake ballot papers are being printed and forged seals are being made ahead of the upcoming election. Clandestine groups are conspiring to win the election through forgery.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an electoral rally organised at Bell's Park on Band Road in Barishal city on Wednesday (February 4).
In an oblique reference to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Tarique Rahman said the country's development or progress is not possible through those who don't know how to show respect to womenfolk.
He said people would have to be very cautious so that none can snatch the voting rights of common people in the upcoming election on February 12.
Massive encouragement and enthusiasm were created in the entire Barishal division from early Wednesday morning over the arrival of BNP chief in Barishal city. Thousands of BNP leaders, workers and supporters from different districts and upazilas of Barishal division started thronging the meeting venue at Bell's Park.
Tarique Rahman reached Barisal Stadium by an helicopter at about 12 noon. From there, his motorcade headed towards the meeting venue at Bell's Park amid stringent security measures. At that time, hundreds of party activists and common people welcomed Tarique Rahman waving hands and chanting slogans. At about 12:27pm, he reached the meeting venue at Bell's Park and took his seat on the stage.
