Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has pledged to build a new Bangladesh based on justice and fairness.

"The upcoming February 12 election is a chance to awaken a “New Bangladesh,” honor the July 2024 uprising heroes, and ensure development based on justice," he told an election rally at Pirojpur Government High School ground on Friday.

He said the children who sacrificed their lives during the mass uprising gave us this Bangladesh. In this Bangladesh, no July hero will tolerate discrimination or oppression anymore.

Addressing the public on the upcoming vote, he asked, “Freedom or slavery?” The crowd responded with chants, “Freedom! Freedom!” He urged voters to start their first vote on February 12 by saying “Yes.”

Speaking to the youth, Dr. Shafiqur said, “Prepare your hands, we want to give you work. If we can build Bangladesh on the foundation of justice, the whole country will become a living airplane, and the youth will be its pilots.”

On the killing of Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, he said, “Pirojpur is the sacred land of Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi. The innocent Sayeedi was murdered. We will ensure justice for this killing, as well as for all other killings, including Osman Hadi, Abrar Fahad, Abu Saeed and Mir Mugdha.”

At the end of his speech, Dr. Shafiqur handed over the election symbols ‘Daripalla’ to 11 party alliance Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi’s two sons – Shamim Sayedee (Pirojpur-2) and Masood Sayedee (Pirojpur-1), Shapla-koli symbol to the Jamaat-backed NCP candidate Dr. Shamim Hamidi (Pirojpur-3), urging the public to vote for them.
