All you need to know about the spectacular Mirinja Valley

Where is the Mirinja Valley?

It is situated in Lama Upazila of Bandarban. Lama Upazila is part of the Bandarban district in the southeastern part of Bangladesh. On the other hand, Lama is also located on the Chakoria to Alikadam road in Cox's Bazar.

The valley is located at an altitude of about 1,800 feet above sea level. Therefore, it can also be called a mountain.

How to get there?
If you want to go to Mirinja Valley by bus from Dhaka, you have to take any bus that goes directly from Dhaka to Lama. It will take about 8-10 hours to reach Mirinja Valley by bus. After that, it takes just 10 minutes to walk from the main road to reach Mirinja Valley. Or, you can reach Lama by Chander Gari from Cox's Bazar via Chakoria.

Where to stay?

There is an excellent choice of resorts. Some resorts are like Zoom rooms. Small rooms built in a special way. One can also stay in a tent. The resorts provide a three-meal package. This includes egg-khichuri or chicken in the morning and white rice, lentils, chicken, vegetables, and salad at noon. Besides, there is a provision for barbecue, chicken, kebab, and paratha at night. Tourists can also cook and eat if they want. It is better to book in advance.

What to see/what to do

From mountaineering to leisurely walks, the Valley offers a wide range of activities to enjoy.

The Matamuhuri River flows near Lama Bazar. This river is accessible to tourists via boat. Everyone will be mesmerized by the spectacular natural beauty along the banks of Matamuhuri. Both sides of the road will have tobacco crops.

One thousand-foot-tall mountain pairs called Sukhi and Dukhi can be found on the east side of the Valley.

A striking sculpture of the Titanic ship has been built on the south side of Mirinja Hill.

You may also visit the indigenous people's houses, the small children's park, and the waterfalls cascading down the mountain.

There is the 150-year-old 'Former Bilchhari Buddhist Monastery.’ It is an exhilarating experience to see the sunrise and sunset from the top of the mountain.

Everything is powered by solar because there is no electricity. Many resorts employ generators to charge visitors' phones and other electronics.
