A Bangkok-bound train derailed in Kui Buri early Saturday, injuring nine passengers. The train was a special express train No. 38/46, with 12 carriages. It was travelling from Su-ngai Kolok district, Narathiwat, to Krungthep Aphiwat (Bang Sue), Bangkok.
The last three carriages, 10, 11, and 12 came off track but did not tip over, injuring a monk, a girl and seven women. Rescuers moved the injured to Kui Buri and Prachuap Khiri Khan hospitals. Railway officers said passengers in nine other carriages were sent to their destination via alternative transportation.
Heavy machinery was deployed to recover the derailed train. The southern train services are now running as usual with delays as mentioned by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT).
