Iran's foreign minister said on Saturday that Russia had relayed a message from Israel that it was not looking for a new war with the Islamic republic, reports AFP.

"Apparently three or four days ago there was a telephone call between (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and (Russian President Vladimir) Putin," Abbas Araghchi said. "Netanyahu emphasised that he had no intention of restarting a war with Iran," he said, adding that the message was relayed to Tehran's ambassador in Russia.

Iran and Israel fought a 12-day war in June that began when Israel launched unprecedented strikes on Iranian nuclear and military installations.
