Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Friday explained his remarks on allowing 50 years for the investigation to the journalist couple Sagar and Runi murder case, if needed, saying that this not a matter of debate.

"I feel sad actually, even if I say something good for you, you take it differently. My earlier statement on giving time for probing the case is being presented differently. I talked about giving 50 years time for probe if necessary, in relative terms. I meant, we will bring to justice the people who have committed that crimes, we will detain them no matter how long it takes," he said.

The law minister came up with these remarks while talking to newsmen in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria, this morning.

Anisul said there is an instance in the United Kingdom, where killers were nabbed 42 years after committing the crime, adding, "Even in the US, recently mystery behind the murder case had been revealed after 24 years."

Anisul Huq said: "Police are trying to deal with this case. Their investigation is ongoing as they haven't nabbed the real culprit yet. That is why the investigation is taking time and will continue until the culprit is caught.”
