The police filed a case under the explosive act against 39 BNP leaders and workers in Fatullah of Narayanganj.
Fatulla Model Police Station Deputy Inspector Syed Azizul Haque filed the case as the plaintiff on October 1. Noore Azam, Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) confirmed the matter.
He said that 39 people including general secretary of Fatullah Thana BNP Advocate Abdul Bari Bhuiyan, former convener Zahid Hasan Rozel, Member Secretary of District Jubo Dal Moshiur Rahman Roni, Organizing Secretary of District Chhatra Dal Mehdi Hasan Dolon have been named in the case. However, no one has been arrested in this case so far.
The police mentioned in the case that around 7 pm on Saturday, the leaders and workers of BNP and allied organizations held a torch procession on the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road in Raghunathpur area to demand the release and proper treatment of Khaleda Zia, the chairperson of the party. At that time they obstructed the traffic on the road and exploded cocktails and vandalized cars. This created panic in the public. They fled before the police reached the spot after receiving the information.
Meanwhile, Fatullah Thana BNP President Shahidul Islam Titu claimed that the case was 'fabricated and ghostly' and said that there was no program of BNP or affiliated organizations in Fatullah on Saturday.
