Peter Haas, the US ambassador to Bangladesh, has asked to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal whether the government will close all roads leading to Dhaka due to the BNP's grand rally in the capital on October 28.
The ambassador wanted to know this in a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at the Secretariat on Sunday. The Home Minister confirmed the matter to reporters after meeting with Peter Haas.
The Home Minister said that BNP has given a big program in the capital. They will bring many people there. In this context, Peter Haas wants to know - will you (the government) close the roads around this? In response, we informed the US ambassador that we have no such plans. BNP has given a political program. Hopefully, they will observe it peacefully. We have no say in this, he added.
The Home Minister said that Peter Haas has also asked about the Durga Puja celebrations. We informed him that security is adequate. I hope there will be no violence.
Finally, the Minister of Home Affairs told reporters, whether the ambassador can ask such a question? whether is it unethical? I put that question to you.
