Asif Mahmud calls OIC countries to speak up against Islamophobia

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has called upon OIC countries to speak up globally against Islamophobia.

He made this call while speaking as the invited guest at the opening ceremony of the OIC Youth Capital International Programme, jointly organized by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) and the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication in Marrakesh, said a press release.
 
Asif Mahmud, also the adviser of Ministry of LGRD, reiterated Bangladesh's position on the formation of an independent state for the Palestinian people.
 
During his visit to Morocco, the Adviser also participated in several bilateral meetings.

He had a meeting with ICYF President Taha Ayhan at 11 am local time today. Highlighting the courageous role of Bangladeshi youth in the July uprising, Asif Mahmud said the government is working for the development of youth in the post-July period. 

He said the government is working on all possible domestic and foreign platforms to create quality training and employment opportunities for them. 

The Adviser invited the youth from OIC member countries through ICYF to participate in the Global Youth Summit to be held in Bangladesh in September.

Appreciating the various youth development initiatives and programmes of the Bangladesh government under the leadership of the Adviser, ICYF President Taha Ayhan said that ICYF has many friends and partners in Bangladesh. At the time, he invited the Adviser to visit the ICYF headquarters in Istanbul.

After the programmes in Morocco, the Adviser is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Ethnosport Union in Istanbul, Turkey and participate in several important bilateral meetings.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Washington DC, the USA capital city, this afternoon after joining the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session and other high-level side and bilateral events in New York.

 

She reached Washington DC from New York by road at 6pm.

On her arrival in Washington DC, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Muhammad Imran received the premier with a flower bouquet, reports BSS.

Earlier, she left her Place of Residence, Lotte New York for Washington DC at 12:30pm.

She arrived in New York on September 17.

The prime minister will leave Washington DC for London, the capital city of the United Kingdom, on September 29.

She will stay in London till October 3.

After wrapping up her visit, the prime minister will leave London for home and scheduled to reach Dhaka on October 4.

Deal to ease trade in taka-rupee to be signed as Hasina

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
