Ramisa Akter, who was brutally murdered after rape at Pallabi, Mirpur in the capital, was buried at their family graveyard at Madhyam Shialdi in Ichapura union under Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj district at about 9:30pm on Wednesday (May 20).
The eight-year-old Ramisa was the daughter of Abdul Hannan Molla of village Madhyam Shialdi. A pall of gloom and wail were seen among the relatives and villagers when Ramisa's body was reached at their village home. After a namaj-e-janaza (funeral prayer), she was laid to rest beside her grandparents graves.
During the burial, family members, neighbours and local elderly people were present. Some had burst into tears and demanded exemplary punishment of the culprits as quickly as possible through speedy trial.
Locals said Ramisa was lively and ever-smiling child. The family members could not accept her death in any way. Being burst into tears, Ramisa's mother demanded exemplary punishment of the rapist and killer of her daughter.
