Incidents like rape, abuse, and murder of child are manifestations of a long-standing moral decay and crisis of human values, LGRD Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.
He said that these incidents are not isolated ones; rather, they are the results of a lack of responsibility, a decline in values, and a weakening of humane consciousness in society.
Mirza Fakhrul made the remarks in a Facebook post on Thursday (May 21).
The minister also expressed his commitment to continue all-out efforts to prevent these inhumane crimes. At the same time, he spoke of building a safe Bangladesh where children can grow up in a fear-free environment.
In his post, Mirza Fakhrul further mentioned that it is not possible to completely combat this type of crime through law enforcement or government initiatives alone. This requires a strong social movement, where families, educational institutions, religious leaders, mass media, social organizations, and the general public must all play a role together.
He stated that the new generation must be made aware of humanity, respect, responsibility, and the dignity of women.
Mirza Fakhrul also said that the future of the country can be secured only by ensuring the safety of children.
