National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam on Friday said that there will be no 'note of dissent' in the July Charter.

"Whatever consensus we have reached will remain, and the people will decide the rest," he said while addressing a discussion at the launching ceremony of University Teachers' Forum (UTF) at Bangla Academy, Dhaka, on Friday.

"We hope that we will move towards elections very soon, based on the legal basis of the July Charter," he said.

Nahid Islam said that all those who participated in the mass uprising should be represented in the next parliament.  The parliament will form a reform council to work on a new constitution. Teachers must play an active role in that process, and NCP will try to ensure their participation.

He further said that the upcoming parliament and the reform council will include the youth, teachers, religious scholars, women, minorities, and various professionals in society to implement the July Charter.

"Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus must issue the July Charter order from the point of the mass uprising. There will be no note of dissent in the July charter," he added.

University Teachers Forum (UTF) Convener Professor Sirajul Islam and Member Secretary Professor Shamim Hamidi read out the declaration at the inauguration ceremony.
