Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus visited former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing medical treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
Professor Muhammad Yunus went to the hospital around 7 pm on Wednesday (December 3), stayed for about half an hour and inquired about the BNP leader's treatment.
Prof Yunus urged Khaleda Zia's family, party leaders and activists to be patient, and reiterated the government's assurance of all kinds of cooperation.
The Chief Adviser called on the people of the country to pray for Khaleda Zia's speedy recovery.
National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman accompanied the Chief Adviser during the visit.
Upon his arrival at the hospital, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Begum Khaleda Zia's personal physician Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Prof Dr Shahabuddin Talukder, Khaleda Zia's younger son's wife Syeda Sharmila Rahman and younger brother Shamim Iskander received the Chief Adviser.
Khaleda Zia's medical team briefed the Chief Adviser about her physical condition, according to the CA’s press wing.
They said Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment under the supervision and assistance of specialist doctors from Mount Sinai and Johns Hopkins in the United States, as well as from the United Kingdom and China.
Earlier, on Tuesday evening, Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan visited Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital.
