The government has withdrawn Mohammad Nasir Uddin Sarwar, director at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Saturday.
The gazette notification stated that the officer had been attached elsewhere in the public interest, but did not specify any reason for the decision.
Nasir Uddin Sarwar previously served as an executive magistrate at various locations across Dhaka when the student-led mass uprising was going on in 2024.
According to information received from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka District, Nasir Uddin Sarwar's name is included in the list of executive magistrates who ordered Police, BGB and RAB to open fire on students during the July Mass Uprising.
Earlier, he served important positions during the Awami League government. He also served as Protocol Officer to the President and Senior Assistant Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration during the tenure of the Sheikh Hasina administration.
