The namaj-e-janaza of former state minister and ACME Laboratories Limited and Group's managing director Mizanur Rahman Sinha was held at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at about 11:30am on Sunday (May 17).
Jatiya Sangsad Secretariate's senior pesh imam Abu Raihan conducted the namaj-e-janaza. Apart from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the janaza was attended by Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal, LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and members of the cabinet division.
Later, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tributes to the late leader placing floral wreath on his coffin. Then Jatiya Sangsad Speaker and ministers paid tributes to the late leader one after another. Then a munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of late Mizanur Rahman Sinha.
It may be mentioned that former state minister for Health and Family Welfare Mizanur Rahman Sinha died at a hospital in Singapore on Saturday (May 16). He was 83.
Convener of the Munshiganj District BNP, Mizanur Rahman Sinha was the treasurer of BNP central committee. He was also the Managing Director of ACME Group.
Sinha got the party's nomination from Munshiganj-2 (Louhajang-Tongibari) constituency in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
Mizanur Rahman Sinha was born on August 18, 1943 in village Dohori in Kolma union under Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj district. His local house, called "Sinha House" is open to all for a long time. His father was Hamidur Rahman Sinha and mother Noorjahan Sinha. Hamidur Rahman Sinha was one of the pioneers of pharmaceutical industry in Bangladesh and founder of ACME Group.
He is widely known in his area. He got reared up in Kolkata in his boyhood. After completing Higher Secondary Education (HSC) from Tolaram College in Narayanganj and then obtained Graduate degree in Business from Dhaka University. Mizan Sinha started his working career through Habib Bank in 1964. Following his father's death in 1975, he joined the ACME Group founded by his father. He had been working as the managing director at the group since 1983.
