Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said maximum punishment will be sought from the court in child Ramisa murder incident.
He said: "Depending on the basis of evidence we have, we can say that the accused will surely receive maximum punishment. It's our expectation."
The minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a cheque distribution ceremony for football and financial assistance at Shoilkupa Upazila Parishad auditorium on Sunday (May 31) morning.
Md Asaduzzaman said five members have been sought from the Opposition bench in the Constitution Reform Committee. "They told me that they would inform about a decision later on. We are now awaiting their decision."
The Law Minister also said it is "our responsibility to save the society and state from the devastating effects of drugs. All of the society must be united against drugs. Besides, none would be spared if found involved in drug selling."
Referring to the family cards, he said some four crores of families would be given family cards across the country. "It's the government's pledge. Farmer's Card has already been introduced at different parts of the country and it will be introduced in phases in the country.
Besides, the Law Minister said steps have been taken to provide allowances to imams of mosques and priests of temples.
Officials of the district administration and local administration were present at the function.
