The government has sent Bangladesh Navy's Rear Admiral Masud Iqbal into forced retirement.
It was stated through an official notification signed by MJ Arif Baig, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Defence on Thursday (July 2) at the order of the President.
However, the official notification was issued on Tuesday (July 7), rather than Thursday (July 2).
The notification states that in accordance with Section 17(1) of the Navy Ordinance 1961, Masud Iqbal has been sent into forced retirement from the Bangladesh Navy service by an administrative order, with pension benefits but without LPR (Leave Preparatory to Retirement). This order shall take effect immediately.
Prior to this, Masud Iqbal served as the Chairman of the Payra Port Authority.
