The Election Commission has temporarily suspended the emergency National Identity Card correction service operated from the Election Training Institute building.
Officials of the EC said applications for NID correction under Categories ‘K-1’, ‘K’, ‘Kh-1’, ‘Kh’, ‘Ga-1’ and ‘Ga’ will be disposed of by the respective field-level election officials, according to a notification signed by Director (Operations) of the National Identity Registration Wing Md. Saiful Islam here today.
It said, “Except for Category 'Gha' applications for National Identity Card correction, which are to be disposed of at the Director General level, NID correction service activities under Categories 'K-1', 'K', 'Kh-1', 'Kh', 'Ga-1' and 'Ga' at the Election Training Institute building will remain suspended until further instructions.”
The notification said the following field-level officials will be responsible for disposing of applications under the specified categories.
According to the EC decision, Category 'K-1' applications will be disposed of by the Assistant Thana/Upazila Election Officer.
Category 'K' applications will be disposed of by the Thana/Upazila Election Officer.
Category 'Kh-1' applications will be disposed of by the Additional District Election Officer.
Category 'Kh' applications will be disposed of by the District Election Officer.
Category 'Ga-1' applications will be disposed of by the Additional Regional Election Officer.
Category ‘Ga’ applications will be disposed of by the Regional Election Officer.
The letter also said applications that are eligible for online submission will not be accepted in hard copy.
