The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has been reconstituted to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the public procurement process.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman has been appointed as the new chairman of the nine-member high-level committee.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Sunday (July 5).
The notification states that the committee will defining necessary working procedures for both the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase.
Besides, it will reviewing matters falling under the Public Procurement Act (PPA), 2006 and the Public Procurement Rules (PPR).
The committee will formulate policy recommendations to make the national public procurement system more transparent and effective.
Other members of the committee are Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, Industries, Textiles & Jute, and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Prime Minister's Advisor on Public Administration Md Ismail Zabiullah, State Minister for Shipping and Bridges Md Rajib Ahsan, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani, Finance Secretary Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder, and Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) SM Moin Uddin Ahmed.
