At least eight madrasa students were killed in a landslide caused by incessant rainfall at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya Upazila, Cox's Bazar district, on Wednesday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman stated that a total of 13 children were rescued following a landslide in Camp-5.
"The deaths of eight of these children have been confirmed; four died at the scene, while the other four passed away while undergoing treatment at various hospitals," he added.
He further said the rescue operation, led by the Fire Service and supported by CCCM volunteers, has already concluded. APBn members are present at the site, and RRRC officials have supervised the entire rescue effort.
