Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed concern about the role of the United States in the elections and said that BNP is openly obstructing the elections, calling for hartal, why is the United States not enforcing the visa policy against BNP. The Minister made these remarks to reporters after a meeting with the election observation team of the OIC countries at the Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon of the capital on Friday.
Stating that people will vote fearlessly in the elections, Obaidul Quader said free, fair and acceptable elections will be given on January 7. Everyone will come to the polling station. They will vote fearlessly. Anyone who obstructs voting will be deterred.
About the hartal-blockade called by BNP on the election day, Obaidul Quader said hartal is now a rusty tool in the politics of Bangladesh. Hartal and blockades are now in BNP's program but not in reality.
