The newly elected parliamentarians of Jatiya Party will not join the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to take place at Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday as most of them are still outside Dhaka, said Party's Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu.
Chunnu made this remarks while talking to reporters on Thursday.
“We will take oath later, after holding a meeting with party chairman GM Quader upon return of elected members from their areas,” he said.
Awami League (AL)-backed candidates won in 222 seats in 12th national election, while independent candidates -- most belonging to AL -- won 62 seats.
JaPa candidates won only 11 seats and three candidates from three parties each -- Bangladesh Workers’ Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasod and Bangladesh Kalyan Party -- secured victory in their respective constituencies.
