Bangladesh face Maldives today

Bangladesh will face visiting Maldives in the second leg of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier scheduled to be held today at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the city.

Private satellite Channels News 24 and T Sports will telecast the match live that kicks off at 5.45 pm.

The team that wins the second legs will advance in the race for the World Cup qualifiers.

Addressing at a pre-match press conference held on Monday at the conference room of Bashundhara Kings arena Bangladesh's head coach Javier Cabrera said they are ready for the Maldives challenge in home and excited to play the match.

Team's skipper Jamal Bhuyan said the Tuesday's match is the match of the year for them because the match is very important for them.

The Bangladesh skipper also expressed his high hope to win the match against Maldives.

The first leg ended 1-1 with Bangladesh snatching a creditable draw in the last-minute goal scored by Saad Uddin. Now they will take to the field against Maldives to test at the home ground.

The Jamal Bhuyan and co. will qualify for the World Cup qualifiers if they win this match. Bangladesh football team will get a chance to play at least six international matches if they qualify to the next stage.

The Javier Cabrera's men have no alternative option but to win this match if they want to go to the qualifiers of the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Football Federation has fixed the ticket rates for the match in three categories. The price of VIP gallery is Taka five hundred, category one Taka two hundred and category two Taka one hundred taka.

The football lovers can collect tickets from Premier Bank in Motijheel branch and Bashundhara residential area.

Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim is set to feature for Fortune Barishal in the forthcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

 

Mushfiqur had played for Sylhet Strikers in the last edition. His price was fixed at 80 lakhs in the players' draft according to the category. Which means he was in 'A' category.

The top category player will play along with other star players like Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Khaled Ahmed in Fortune Barishal.

Neymar was “in negotiations” on Sunday to become the latest football superstar to decamp for Saudi Arabia, leaving Paris Saint-Germain just as Kylian Mbappe was brought back in from the cold by the French champions.

A source close to PSG told AFP that 31-year-old Neymar “no longer figures in the club or manager’s plans” with the Brazilian immediately linked to Al-Hilal in the Gulf kingdom.

Another source in Saudi Arabia said that “direct negotiations” between Neymar’s agents and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) were ongoing.

Paris Saint-Germain got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start on Tuesday as a Kylian Mbappe penalty set them up for a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes.

The French champions had dominated the first half without overly troubling the Dortmund defence, but they went ahead four minutes after the break when Mbappe scored a spot-kick awarded for a Niklas Suele handball.

Achraf Hakimi added a memorable second, and PSG could have won the Group F encounter by a far more handsome margin in the end.

The result immediately puts them in control of the group, after AC Milan and Newcastle United drew 0-0 earlier, and coach Luis Enrique will hope they can build on this performance when they visit the English side next in a fortnight.
