Former captain of Bangladesh National Women's Cricket Team Jahanara Alam has recently made allegations of sexual harassment in an interview with a journalist recently.
On the basis of her allegations, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) made four of its offcials officer on special duty (OSD) over their suspected complicity in the incidents of harassment..
The officials who have been made OSD are: manager SM Golam Fayez, physio Suraiya Akter, coach Mahmud Imon and official Sarfaraz Babu.
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury informed the mass media about the matter.
He said, "The board has taken decision against those individuals, against whom the allegations have been surfaced. The board is looking into the matter very seriously."
The primary accused Manjurul Islam, former manager and selector of the women's team, is now in China. He responded to the allegations on a Facebook post on Friday night, saying he welcomed BCB's decision to form an inquiry committee and is willing to face any investigation.
BCB formed an inquiry committee on Saturday to look into the allegations that have rocked the sporting fraternity of the country.
Tariq ul Hakim, retired justice, Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, has been named the convener of the committee, while newly appointed BCB director Rubaba Dowla and Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla, senior advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, were named members of the committee.
