Actress Pori Moni sued over alleged assault of domestic help

Actress Pori Moni’s former domestic worker has filed a case against her and one other individual, accusing them of physical assault and abuse.

The case was filed by the domestic worker, Pinky Akter, with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter on Tuesday, reported UNB.

Following a preliminary hearing, the court recorded the plaintiff's statement and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the matter and submit a report by May 8.

Advocate Nasidus Zaman Nishan, representing the plaintiff, said the second accused in the case is Saurav, a resident of the same apartment as Pori Moni.

According to the case statement, Pinky was employed as a domestic worker in March 2024 through an agency to care for one child. However, upon joining, she was made responsible for two children.

The plaintiff alleges that on April 2, at around 1pm, Pori Moni entered the children's room from her makeup room under the influence of narcotics and began verbally abusing her in foul language.

When Pinky asked why she was being scolded, Pori Moni reportedly became enraged over Pinky’s decision to prepare milk for a child instead of solid food. Pinky explained she was following the child's regular feeding routine.

In response, Pori Moni allegedly slapped Pinky multiple times on her head, face, and eyes, leaving her injured and unconscious. Regaining consciousness later, Pinky claimed she was terrified and repeatedly requested Pori Moni to take her to a hospital.

At the time of the incident, Saurav was present and allegedly encouraged Pori Moni to continue the assault, also preventing Pinky from leaving the apartment.

Eventually, Pinky managed to call the national emergency number 999 and was rescued by police. She later received medical treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital.

Following the incident, Pinky filed a general diary with Vatara Police Station on April 4. According to her, as no progress was made, she proceeded to file the case with the court.
