Tehran is not happy at the Bangladesh government's statement over the acts of aggression by some countries against Iran, said Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bangladesh Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi on Wednesday (April 1).
"The Bangladesh government's statement on aggression against Iran was supposed to be more strong and clear. Bangladesh is a Muslim country. We expect that Bangladesh will take more firm stand on Iran issue and stay beside Iran," he said.
Ambassador Jahanabadi also mentioned that countries like Pakistan and Turkey condemned the attacks on Iran and called for dialogue and peace. "Even the European country Spain condemed these heinous attacks in clear terms," he said.
The Ambassador mentioned that Iran accorded permission to six Bangladeshi ships, stuck in the Strait of Hormuz, to pass through.
He said the Highest Security Council of Iran has already accorded formal permission for the safe passage of six Bangladeshi ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
"Both Bangladesh and Iran governments are closely working to bring these six ships back to Bangladesh safely," he said.
He expressed hope that Iran and Bangladesh would continue to support each other during the ongoing regional tensions.
Ambassador Jahanabadi said that Bangladesh's Foreign Minister had sent a letter to Iran's Foreign Minister thanking him for his cooperation to bring the Bangladeshi sailors stuck in the stranded ships.
