M. Reza Hasan has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate of Sylhet. 

He is an officer from the 29th batch of the BCS (Administration) cadre. 

Earlier on June 21, former Sylhet DC Md Sarwar Alam was withdrawn and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration as deputy secretary. The post fell vacant for a week before this new appointment.

He was recently in the discussion regarding the district administration's initiative to establish control over the fund management of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Shah Paran (R) shrines. On August 18 last year, the interim government appointed Sarwar Alam as the DC of Sylhet. According to the new order, the current DC of Cumilla, Reza Hasan, will take charge as the new DC and District Magistrate of Sylhet.

"An MoU will be signed between the National Payments Corporation of India and the Bangladesh Bank to make transactions in rupees and taka between Bangladesh and India easier," said the foreign minister in a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday.

Besides, the neighbouring countries are likely to sign two more memorandums of understanding regarding cooperation in agricultural researches, and extension of the existing cultural exchange programme for two years, said the foreign minister.
