The government has made a policy decision to establish 4 police stations, 6 investigation centers, and 2 police lines in the Purbachal New Town project.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir stated it on Wednesday (July 1), following the inauguration of Borkau Police Camp in Purbachal New Town project area.
The IGP said 4 full-fledged police stations, 6 investigation centers, 2 police lines, 3 DC (Deputy Commissioner) offices and 41 police boxes will be established across the Purbachal area.
He said RAJUK has allocated 29.21 acres of land for building the police infrastructure. Out of the allocated land, the registration for 18.63 acres has already been completed.
The IGP said as part of the long-term plan, Purbachal will be brought completely under the jurisdiction of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). A separate division will operate there under the leadership of an Additional Police Commissioner, with plans to create 6,524 new positions.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmad, senior police officials, and local residents.
Sources said the modern security framework will play a vital role in accelerating permanent housing and economic development in Purbachal.
