An assistant engineer of Bangladesh Railway has been killed allegedly by her fiancé on Saturday (July 11) afternoon at Mohakhali TV Gate area in the capital.
Mamun Mia, 30-year-old officer was stabbed to death by his alleged fiancé Beauty Akter. The incident took place around 1:00pm on Saturday (July 11, 2026) on the third floor of a house at Mohakhali TV Gate area under Banani Police Station.
The victim was rescued in critical condition and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where a duty-doctor declared him dead around 7:00pm while undergoing treatment.
It is learnt that during an altercation, accused Beauty Akter grew furious, and at one stage stabbed Mamun twice in the abdomen, and severed his private parts.
Hearing Mamun's screams, the house owner, Md Suman, and locals rescued him and initially took him to Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was later referred to the DMCH.
Right after the incident, locals locked the accused woman, Beauty Akter, 30, inside the room and informed the police. Later, Banani Police went to the scene, detained her, and took her to the police station concerned.
